Freelance copy by Dennis ©'Neill

This is something for those of you on the other side of the world.

We all know what it's like when the phone goes at 5 minutes to 5 with a mad panic that needs sorting for the next day.

It's a royal pain, but it has to be done. So you either work through the night, missing your family and your sleep, or you get a freelance to do it. (If you can find one that late.)

Which is where the wonders of modern communications come in. Wherever you are, call me and, because of the time difference, it's no longer a panic.

Let's take Australia as an example. You get a

brief at 5pm, which is 7am my time. So you brief me, go home and crack a tube, safe in the knowledge that I've got all of my day to sort it out.

I then send it back to you for 6pm my time, which is 4am in Oz.

Giving you loads of time to get into the office early and make sure you're happy with what I've done.

If you're in the US, simply reverse the time scales - 5pm in San Francisco is past my bedtime here, but if you e-mail the brief, I'll pick it up at the start of my working day and get it back to you for the start of yours. And no one need ever lose any more sleep.
