These are some wonderful old advertising lines I like. Many people loved the old Burma Shave advertising hoardings. These were ads for a shaving cream sold in American from the early 20th century to around the late 70s. There were usually four or five boards placed about 100 yards or so apart and they covered all of human life: BEN MET ANNA/MADE A HIT/NEGLECTED BEARD/BEN-ANNA SPLIT DON'T TAKE/A CURVE/AT 60 PER/WE HATE TO LOSE/A CUSTOMER | MY JOB IS KEEPING/FACES CLEAN/AND NOBODY KNOWS/DE STUBBLE I'VE SEEN EVERY SHAVER/NOW CAN SNORE/SIX MORE MINUTES/THAN BEFORE If you liked the Shake'n'Vac ad (and it sold so much product, millions must have) how about "You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsadent" Or there's the exhaust shop whose line was "No appointment necessary - we'll hear you coming." Howard Gossage was a truly great man. Before he died of leukemia in 1969, he had run his own | advertising agency, started the World Paper Plane competition, started an environmental protection agency, and many many more things. He once said that almost all of his clients spent less on advertising with him than with their other agencies because he got so much better results. Now that's talent. Any other contributions?
